Plan a visit to IRRI

Welcome to IRRI!

Experience IRRI

Located in picturesque Los Baños, Philippines, IRRI welcomes researchers, students, tourists, community members, and farmer groups to schedule a tour of the institute.

IRRI offers visits every Tuesday and Wednesday, from 9:00 - 10:30 AM and 2:00 - 3:30 PM except during Philippine holidays.

The visit includes a guided tour of the museum, a film about IRRI and our rice science research, and time for independent exploration. You can also learn first-hand what it feels like to plant rice in our Rice Planting Activity (available by request for a fee).

If your group is 20 people or less, we can also arrange a visit to the IRRI Genebank.

To book your visit with IRRI, please fill out the form below. We will contact you for additional information within 48 hours of your form submission.
    • Please send us your request with a minimum of 21 days notice.
    • Please arrive at IRRI at least 30 minutes before the scheduled tour.
    • The tour is conducted in English and lasts for about 90 minutes. We recommend a tour size of one hundred (100) people or less per session. We can also manage tours of multiple groups of 100 at a time.
    • If your group is larger than 100 people, we suggest the group consider an orientation talk followed by a self-guided visit to the Museum.

Tour Rice World

IRRI actively engages and inspires youth to take an interest in rice science and global issues on hunger and food security. We offer guided tours in the RiceWorld Museum and Genebank. The museum currently offers a series of traditional exhibits that touch on the social, economic, and cultural history of rice cultivation in the Philippines as well as the economic impact of the rice sector in the Asia-Pacific region. The IRRI Genebank has over 128,000 rice varieties that are stored and sorted each day.
